The VIA Apollo KT400 takes the AMD Athlon™ XP processor to the summit of
system performance with enhanced support for a DDR333 SDRAM, ultra fast AGP
8X graphics, ATA-133, USB 2.0 and an 8X V-Link chip interconnect
Building on the success of the VIA Apollo KT333, the market leading
DDR333 SDRAM chipset for the AMD Athlon™ XP processor, the VIA Apollo KT400
boasts a complete set of today's cutting-edge features combined with VIA's
ultra efficient memory controller technology, delivering unparalled system
performance to Socket A compatible processors. Enhanced DDR333 memory
support, offering 25% more memory bandwidth to the CPU than mainstream
DDR266, and the fast 200/266MHz processor bus, unleash the full power of AMD
Athlon™ XP processors, enabling stunning performance across the full
spectrum of applications.
In addition, the VIA Apollo KT400 supports the very latest I/O
technologies including AGP 8X deriving maximum performance from the most
powerful graphics processors, and new 8X V-link chip interconnect with
533MB/s of bandwidth between North and South Bridge enabling the processor
to exploit the full potential of peripheral devices.
The new VT8235 South Bridge also features a complete suite of networking
and communication features including support for 6 USB 2.0 ports for
peripheral connectivity 40 times faster than USB 1.1, and ATA-133 support,
the fastest IDE interface available. Additional features include integrated
into the South Bridge include VIA MAC for 10/100Mbps Ethernet, integrated
PCI support, 6 Channel Surround Sound AC-97 audio and MC-97 modem.
