Building on the success of the VIA Apollo Pro133, the industry's first
available PC133 chipset, the VIA Apollo 133A chipset adds even more high-end
features while still maintaining its scalability and superior value. The
addition of AGP4X support to existing features like a 133MHz Front Side Bus,
a 133MHz Memory Bus and ATA 66, creates the most powerful, and scalable core
logic solution for mainstream PC133 Intel® Pentium®III, Intel® Celeron™ and
VIA C3™ processor-based PC systems.

The
AGP4X interface on the VIA Apollo Pro133A chipset enables the graphics
controller to access the main memory at double the speed of previous
platforms, significantly enhancing rich 3D graphics and video performance.
With its 133MHz Front Side Bus, the VIA Apollo Pro133A chipset optimizes the
performance of Intel® Pentium® III, Intel® Celeron™ and VIA C3™ processors
while its highly scaleable asynchronous bus design also makes it the ideal
solution to fully harness processor FSB speeds of 66 and 100MHz. Through its
advanced memory controller architecture, the VIA Apollo Pro133A chipset
supports up to 2.0GB of PC133 SDRAM and VC133 DRAM. These advanced memory
technologies provide the bandwidth and performance necessary for even the
most demanding Internet and 3D graphics applications.The ATA 66 interface on
the VIA Apollo Pro133A chipset helps boost system performance by providing a
high-speed connection to powerful ATA 66 Hard Disk Drives, delivering
maximum sustained data transfer rates of 66MB/sec.

Innovative & Scalable Architecture
The VIA Apollo Pro133A chipset is based on an innovative and scaleable
architecture with proven reliability and performance. It is a two-chip set
consisting of the VT82C694X North Bridge Controller and a choice of
VT82C596B or VT82C686A South Bridge Controllers, as shown in the block
diagram below. Additional key features include support four USB ports, AC-97
link for audio and modem, hardware monitoring, and power management. |
